Performance Artist

Miriam Cabessa

Moroccan-born Miriam Cabessa makes paintings with unconventional tools, her body included. Hovering over a canvas, Cabessa uses her hands, irons, squeegees, mops, and fabric to create a variety of abstract marks with rhythmic and repetitive motions. Cabessa was chosen as the youngest artist to represent Israel at the Venice Bienale and now splits her time between Tel Aviv and New York. Many critics have said that Miriam brought “Rock’n’Roll” to the Israeli art scene.
